Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter, who cracked six ribs last Tuesday in a bicycling accident, has been released from the hospital and is back home. We wish him a speedy recovery. Although we challenged initial reports that the guv was laughing it up after his accident, and although no subsequent news update has mentioned anything approaching levity, we nevertheless feel compelled to salute Gov. Ritter’s intestinal, er diaphragmatic, fortitude in the face of what must be excruciating pain.

There once was a cyclist Bill Ritter
Who could not have proved himself fitter
With ribs broke in half
He managed to laugh
At every joke and side-splitter

Get well soon Governor!
