Bike with Mike to Work Day, Washington State No. 1 Bicycle-Friendly, Anthill Films' Follow Me is out, & more...

Be sure to be there for the big group photo Friday on the steps of City Hall for Bike with Mike to Work Day 2010.

Washington State again No. 1 ranked of “Bicycle Friendly” states by the League of American Bicyclists.

Word continues to get out that Seattle has a cycling mayor. We prefer to state it as: Although other cities have mayors who ride and who support cycling, Seattle has the ONLY bike-commuting mayor.

GoMeansGo dug up a funny video on cyclists’ rights from the mid-1990s (I’m guessing late spring 1997). (Thanks to Eric Stobin for the tip.)

Yes there is such a thing as an organic bike.

Is bicycling the new golf? I dunno … is Red Bull the new double martini?

One more reason why I’m buying a new set of Easton Haven carbon wheels no matter how much they cost!

We’ve been posting in Questionland on The Stranger, where the topic of the week is bikes.

Another Drunk Cyclist gives up the bottle on DrunkCyclist.com. Also see the profile on the transformation of Big Jonny in the June issue of Mountain Bike magazine as well (not online).

Thanks to Lance and Levi for donating their Tour of California bikes to a great cause.

Kudos as well to Trips for Kids, which pulled in $25,000 for its bike commute challenge.

Anthill Films’ new “Follow Me” DVD is finally out and available to the general public!

Mount St. Helens anniversary, "Follow Me" premiere and Whistler opening are all coming up ... plus MORE!

Calendar reminders:

Whistler opens Saturday!

Washington State premiere of “Follow Me” is Sunday!

The 30th anniversary of the Mount St. Helens eruption is Tuesday!

The roster for the Tour of California announced.

Bikes and bananas go together, always have, always will.

Jacquie Phelan turns her poignant prose to the passage of Conrad Isecke.

Everyone had fun at the Tacoma Bike Swap.

There is such a thing as a bike sleuth.

San Francisco gets a “green lane” for cyclists. Let’s hope it stays green. At Green Lake in Seattle, the green lanes have already (after less than a year) faded to something kind of gray-green. A few more months of Seattle rainfall and they’ll hardly be noticeable.

Not that green lanes aren’t a good idea, especially physically separated ones like these. But hopefully S.F. has better followup maintenance.

Mark your calendars (or input to iPhone): The Washington State premiere of Anthill Films’ “Follow Me” is now Sunday, May 16th — at 4 p.m. in North Bend Theater. Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance, Kuat Racks, Big Tree Bike shop and Downhill Zone are among the sponsors, and our own Walter Yi will have a killer video of Duthie Hill Mountain Bike Park.
